ASC is located in Wakefield, VA Airfield Shooting Club will hold an “IDPA like” match this coming Sat, 29 Jul 2017. They have a web site giving directions and discussing this pistol match. We will be using the IDPA standards for procedures and firearms. Sign in starts at 0930 and shooting begins at 1000. Set up begins at 0700 … could really use some help! The Course of Fire is attached. Please note: All four stages involve engaging moving targets of some type and some steel. You’ll be busy on Stage 1; doors to be knocked in! Stage 2 has ‘em rising, dropping, and floppin. Stage 3 has ‘em coming at ya from the left and the right … good luck! Finally Stage 4 is a Tough Call; how ya gonna shoot it? For NEW shooter: If you do not have a holster but want to shoot the match please come out; we’ll start you from a low ready position! You can stuff your extra mags in your pants pockets or tuck them in your waist belt. Note: Three mags are needed for the match but you can make it with two … as a new shooter). And of course you will need a firearm. Semi-auto 9mm and larger will work or a revolver. http://www.airfieldshootingclub.org/content/defensive-pistol Match information: --- When: Every month with a 5th Saturday ... 8:00am to 4:00pm Where: 50 yard range in use from 08:00am until 04:00pm or whenever cleanup is done. Who: Open to anyone that can safely operate a handgun from a holster. --- Set-up: 8 am - 10 am on the 50 yard range. Staff and SO's shoot: 10 am - 11 am 1. Squad: 11 am - 1 pm (NOTE: Set up crew has priority to shoot in Squad 1) 2. Squad: 1 pm - 3 pm 3. Squad: 3 pm - 4 pm Break down and clean up: 3:30-4pm STAGES: Course of Fire will be posted online the week preceding the match. Copies will be posted at the sign in table. Stage briefs will be conducted before each new squad starts shooting. Upon request, a new shooter orientation will be conducted 15 min prior to the stage brief. Please indicate interest when signing up. Match Sign-Up: Please register through Practiscore (link to www.practiscore.com) ( Search for the ASC Defensive Pistol ) Once you have registered, you should receive a confirmation email with a link to squadding. Should you encounter issues with your registration and/or squadding, please email idpa@airfieldshootingclub.org. WALK-INS: Walk-ins are welcome and will be assigned the first available slot after the last pre-registered shooter. No walk-ins will be accepted after 2 pm on match day. MATCH FEE: $15 for non-ASC members; $10 for members. VOLUNTEER HOURS: ASC members can earn volunteer hours for set-up, score keeping, SO-ing, and break-down. Set up volunteers have priority to shoot in Squad 1. ** We also could use Volunteers to help run the event.. Things like.. Sign in table, help with score sheets, directing people to the right areas. etc... If you do not want to shoot but would like to get some service hours in.. Please email the secretary at secretary@airfieldshootingclub.org or idpa@airfieldshootingclub.org ** INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event of inclement weather, a final go/no-go decision will be posted online by Friday, 8 pm, the night before the match. Pre-registered shooters will receive email updates. MATCH CANCELLATION: If the number of shooters signing up in advance via email is insufficient, we will cancel the match.
