As noted in the last email, there is a new IDPA rulebook for 2017, in fact they revised it again in early January.  The 2017v2 rulebook can be found on the IDPA website 2017 IDPA rulebook.  Below is a plain-English list of changes.  This list is no substitute for reading the rulebook yourself.  If you have questions about the rulebook, please ask at the match well before your turn to shoot.  We will point out relevant rule changes while doing the walk-through at the match.

  1. Stage design rules –
    1. added fault lines – touching anything on other side of line is PE
    2. eliminated mandatory reloads aka tactical reload
    3. prohibited memory stages
    4. eliminated tactical sequence and prohibited all other CoF-mandated shooting orders – Priority is only required shooting order, near-to-far in the open or slice-the-pie from cover
  2. Added option to require “body then head” order of shots on a target, single PE if shooter fails on one or more targets
  3. Allow reload and reengage in the open, allow reload on the move (leaving cover) as long as not exposed to unengaged targets
  4. Penalty for points down now 1 second per point
  5. Eliminated multiple PE for failing to shoot required number of rounds on targets (eliminated 5.1 exception to 4.1.1 / 4.2.2, now only 1 PE)
  6. Eliminated better-of scoring for DNF, will be scored as points down & penalties
  7. Eliminated failure to neutralize
  8. Added flagrant penalty
  9. Added 4” circle down-0 to head, score down-1 outside of circle
  10. Equipment rule changes – new BUG and CCP dimensions – ensure proper division at sign-in and use test box at safe area if shooter is unsure

We have a great year of matches planned and look forward to seeing you at the club!
